Central Remedial Clinic pay policy unacceptable - Ó Caoláin

The Sinn Féin spokesperson on Health and Children Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has called for a full independent investigation into all matters pertaining to the salaries and payouts to senior staff at the Central Remedial Clinic.

Deputy Ó Caoláin said;

“It is a matter of concern for all who contribute to the Central Remedial Clinic’s fund-raising arm that these charitable contributions have been diverted from their understood purpose to provide top up payments to the highest paid staff within its structure.

“This is totally unacceptable and when one considers that in the case of the CRC’s former Chief Executive the top up payout exceeded his publicly-funded salary there can be but one course of action and that is a fully independent investigation of all matters pertaining to the salaries and payments to these employees.

“With children and adults with disabilities having to face service cutbacks and ever longer waits for access to the Clinic’s services, people generally will understandably be very annoyed.

“That said, it would be doubly wrong for contributors to choose to withhold their support, with all the negative consequences that that would entail.”
