Sinn Féin protest against budget cuts affecting young people
Sinn Féin's Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD will lead a protest outside Fine Gael's constituency office on Tyrconnell Road today.
Speaking this morning Ó Snodaigh said:
“Today's protest is to highlight the on going attacks by this government on our young people.
“The recent budget saw young people's social welfare being cut. To reduce Jobseekers Allowance for 26 year olds is an insult. It also sends our young people a very negative message. The message is clear, become a burden on your parents or emigrate. Our young people have a right to a decent standard of living and a future here at home.
“Sinn Fein's protest is about holding Fine Gael TDs to account for their actions. They can't simply vote for cuts and then hide behind closed doors.
“Sinn Fein are committed to building a future for our young people here in Ireland. We will guarantee every young person a real job or training within three months of becoming unemployed.”
Protest today, Saturday, noon, outside Fine Gael offices, Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore.
