Sinn Fein respond to Donaldson attack on Queens Student Union
Sinn Féin Equality Spokesperson, South Down MLA Caitriona Ruane has hit back at the attack from Jeffery Donaldson on Queens Student Union.
Ms Ruane said:
"Jeffery Donaldson's attack on Queens Students Union is entirely unfounded. The union are entirely within their rights to produce a bilingual handbook. Suggesting that this is intimidating and part of a wider republican plot is a symptom of paranoia and will do more to damage good relations than any handbook.
"I also find Jeffery Donaldson new found commitment to section 75 a surprise. He is among an army of unionists that have opposed the equality agenda at every twist and turn.
"The reality is that nationalists face a very real threat from unionist paramilitaries. On an almost daily basis nationalist homes and businesses are attacked and targeted by unionist paramilitaries.
"Jeffery expresses concern at some mythical anti-unionist agenda yet when will unionists like Mr Donaldson wake up to the reality that the anti-nationalist 'saga' has been ongoing ever since the formation of this unionist statelet. The anti-nationalist saga is still part of the daily experience of nationalists - it is in a PSNI that is still unionist in its membership and ethos, it is in the supremacist and sectarian actions of the Loyal Orders and it is the sectarian violence of the unionist paramilitaries."
