McGuigan voices concern over tourism masterplan
Sinn Féin MLA for North Antrim, Philip McGuigan, has expressed concerns about the implementation of the Tourism Masterplan for the Causeway Coast. Mr McGuigan's comments come after he led a Sinn Féin delegation to meet with direct rule Minister Barry Gardiner and his officials.
Mr McGuigan said:
"At the time of it's launch we said that it should not become a paper exercise. A number of months on I share the concerns of a lot of local groups that the necessary enthusiasm and resources to actually make the plan a reality is not there.
"These points were made to the minister. We also expressed concerns that assurances around the timetable for implementation already given have slipped past.
"Local groups and organisations need to buy into this process for it to be a success. Unfortunately their confidence in this plan is slowly ebbing away." ENDS
