Tallaght LUAS a welcome and vital addition to Dublin transport infrastructure

28 September, 2004

Speaking after the launch of the LUAS from Tallaght today local Sinn Féin TD and spokesperson on Transport, Seán Crowe welcomed what he termed a "vital addition to Dublin's transport infrastructure". Deputy Crowe went on to call for the Red Line to be extended in to the City West Campus.

Deputy Crowe said, "The introduction of LUAS from the Square in Tallaght to Connolly station is a welcome and vital addition to Dublin's transport infrastructure.

"However, while it is welcome it has already been overtaken by the development of this part of Dublin. Massive growth has taken place beyond the Square in Tallaght, where the LUAS line now terminates. The whole City West business campus as well as the thousands of residential homes that have sprung up in the area in recent years are in desperate need of increased quality public transport. The extension of the LUAS to this part of the County must be looked at as a priority." ENDS
