Adams welcomes appointment of US Ambassador to Ireland
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has welcomed the appointment of Kevin F O Malley as the United States Ambassador to Ireland.
Gerry Adams said:
“The appointment of Mr O Malley as the US Ambassador to Ireland is a very welcome step by President Obama.
“US Ambassadors in Dublin have played an important role in the Irish peace process from its inception in the 1990s and as a point of conversation on issues affecting the island of Ireland and the United States, including on the issue of the undocumented.
“Last week I again raised the absence of an Ambassador with senior officials in the White House and State department, and with congressional leaders.
“I look forward to Mr O Malley’s taking up his post and meeting with him in the near future.”
