Farm death reduction welcomed

10 September, 2014 - by Oliver McMullan

Sinn Féin Agricultural spokesperson Oliver McMullan has welcomed figures that show deaths on farms have nearly halved over the past year.

 Mr McMullan said:

“The latest figures showing that deaths on farms have fallen from 11 in the previous year to 4 this year is welcoming but eleven is still too many.

“However, we must not be complacent and strive to bring this figure down to zero.

“I would like to thank the Minister Michelle O’Neill and her Department in being proactive in promoting safety on farms. I would appeal to everyone who either works or visits a farm to keep safety in mind so we can eliminate fatal accidents on farms.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
