Latest parade application attempt to undermine Parades Commission - Kelly

11 September, 2014 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA for North Belfast Gerry Kelly said that a new application by the Order Order to march past Ardoyne, Mountainview and the Dales is a further attempt to undermine the Parades Commission.

Speaking today Mr Kelly said:

“This latest application by the Orange Order for another contentious parade on the Crumlin Road is yet another attempt to undermine the Parades Commission and the process of dialogue.

“The only way to resolve this issue is to sit down and talk and come to a local agreement.

“What we do not need at this time is even more parades in this area as loyalists and the Orange Order attempt to crank up tensions. We need to see engagement and a sincere attempt to reach an outcome that is acceptable to all involved.”
