Tory welfare cuts would devastate thousands - McKay

22 September, 2014

“The DUP are vocal about the consequences of not implementing these Tory cuts but remain silent on the impact of these cuts which would take hundreds of millions of pounds out of the pockets of the most vulnerable and least able to pay.  These cuts would plunge more children into poverty and take money from hard-pressed working families, people on benefits and from people with disabilities." - Daithí McKay

Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay said today that proposed Tory welfare cuts would have a devastating impact of thousands of families and would increase child poverty.

Daithí McKay was speaking after Assembly question time where the DUP leader Peter Robinson again called for the Tory cuts to be implemented.

Daithí McKay said:

“The DUP are vocal about the consequences of not implementing these Tory cuts but remain silent on the impact of these cuts which would take hundreds of millions of pounds out of the pockets of the most vulnerable and least able to pay.

“These cuts would plunge more children into poverty and take money from hard-pressed working families, people on benefits and from people with disabilities.

“The DUP need to tell people the truth about the real impact these cuts would have if parties here don’t unite and stand against them.”
