Hard working and respected councillor to step down for health reasons

23 September, 2014 - by Mary Lou McDonald TD

Dublin Central Sinn Féin TD Mary Lou McDonald has expressed her regret at the decision of local party councillor Jonathan Dowdall to step down from elected politics for health reasons.

Deputy McDonald, the party’s Deputy Leader, said Jonathan is a hard worker who will be missed in his elected role by local constituents.

She said;

“It is with much regret that we accept Jonathan’s decision to step down. I fully accept his decision and the reasons behind it.

“Jonathan is a very popular and respected member of his community and he will be missed in his elected role by me, the local party organisation and by local constituents.

“I want to thank Jonathan for all his hard work for the party and for the local community.

“I wish him, his wife Trish and his family all the best and look forward to working with him in the future.

“I would ask to the media to respect Jonathan and his family’s privacy at this time.”
