O'Neill visits National Ploughing Championships
Sinn Féin MLA and Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill visited the National Ploughing Championships in Stradbally, Co. Laois, today.
Speaking from Stradbally after attending the event alongside Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan, the Mid Ulster MLA said;
"Now in its 84th year the National Ploughing Championship has grown to become Europe's largest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show.
"With a wide variety of events, activities and stands it provides a great day out for the huge number of visitors from the agri-food industry and rural community.
"Agriculture is one of the largest employers on the island, north and south, and is a great example of a thriving all-Ireland industry, driving our economy.
"The Ploughing Championship is a great place to do business, with over 200,000 people expected to attend over three days, it is an excellent opportunity for the exhibitors.
"For a small island we have demonstrated through the years, a high level of expertise on the field and punch well above our weight with many European and World champions.
"I wish all the competitors the best of luck at this year's event."
