Maskey appeals for vigilance after arson attacks
Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has expressed alarm at the number of arson attacks in the Holyland area of South Belfast.
The South Belfast MLA said:
"Over the past number of days there have been a number of vehicles burnt out in apparent arson attacks in the area.
“The owners of these cars are understandably upset and bewildered as to the motivation for the attacks.
“We have been in contact with PSNI in the area. They have informed us they do not believe there is any racial or sectarian motive to the attacks.
“The police have said they are stepping up patrolling in the area in a bid to bring these attacks to an end.
“I would appeal to people in the area to be very vigilant and to contact the police with any reports of suspicious activity."
