Lisanelly campus social objectives can be met

26 September, 2014 - by Declan McAleer

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has said that he welcomes the commitment by Education Minister John O’Dowd to ensure social objectives are met on the Lisanelly Campus.

 Mr McAleer said,

“I welcome the reply from the Minister to a question I submitted that he is to set up both a working group and a stakeholders group to maximise the social objectives in delivering the Lisanelly campus.

“The campus which will provide educational facilities for the Omagh area will also present economic and regeneration opportunities for the area.

“The Minister has confirmed that both a Community Stakeholder Group and an Inter-Departmental Working Group will both be put in place in order top maximise opportunities including the inclusion of social clauses.

“It is important that the Lisanelly campus is embedded into the local community from the beginning so that the new facilities are used in after school projects to the benefit of the entire region.

“This is good news for the local area and economy and I look forward to seeing the project develop in the months ahead.”
