Cllr. Catherine Seeley is an outstanding candidate for Seanad election - Senator David Cullinane
Sinn Féin Senator David Cullinane has stated that Cllr.Catherine Seeley is an outstanding candidate for the Seanad by-election and that she would bring valuable experience and expertise to the role.
Senator David Cullinane said:
“The people spoke in the Seanad referendum. We were promised reform. However, this government has delivered more of the same.
“The Seanad should be representative of the nation and not in the ownership of the government or in the gift of a Taoiseach.
“I am pleased that Sinn Féin has nominated Cllr Catherine Seeley to stand in the Seanad election. Catherine is an outstanding candidate and would make an excellent Senator.
“Recently, she was the target of a sectarian intimidation campaign; however this has not deterred her from the work of peace-building and tackling sectarianism.
“Catherine is a teacher and she is the current Deputy Mayor of Craigavon Council
“Her key areas of interest are education, working with young people, equality issues and reconciliation.
“In a Seanad that is under-presentative of women, young people and missing a voice from the six counties, Catherine will bring her experiences and expertise to the decisions facing our whole nation at this time.”
