Single identity plan typical of DUP approach to inequality - Kelly

29 September, 2014 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has said the absence of Catholic schools in a regeneration plan for north Belfast is characteristic of the DUP's approach to tackling inequality.

Speaking after the launch of a masterplan for the greater Ballysillan area, the North Belfast MLA said:

"This single identity plan is characteristic of the DUP's approach to tackling inequality.

"It was the last act of Nelson McCausland before he was removed from his position and is characteristic of his tenure as minister where he was mired in one controversy after another.

"The exclusion of Catholic schools from this master plan is yet another example of the highly questionable decisions made during his time in office.

"For our part, Sinn Féin is committed to tackling inequality and deprivation wherever it exists.

"We have clearly demonstrated our commitment throughout the actions of our ministers in various departments who have acted for the benefit of all communities."
