Hardy condemns Ahoghill burglary

7 October, 2014

Sinn Féin councillor Patrice Hardy has condemned a burglary at a premises in the New Road area of Ahoghill on Monday night.

Speaking after the incident, councillor Hardy said;

"Three masked men claiming to be from the UVF entered a house belonging to elderly men. They ransacked the house before taking a sum of cash and leaving.

"This must have been a frightening and traumatic experience for the men involved.

"There can be no place for attacks like this in our society.

"The community in Ahoghill have been shocked by this disgusting incident.

"It is extremely concerning as this incident is similar in nature to an aggravated burglary in Garvagh last week.

"I urge people within the community to be vigilant and for anyone with information on this incident to come forward and contact the PSNI.

"I would also call on all sections of the local community to come together to reject those responsible for this incident to ensure that people can feel safe in their own homes free from fear and intimidation."
