Anderson supports call for LGBTI Tolerance
Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson spoke today in support of a call for greater tolerance and an end to discrimination of the LGBTI community.
Ms Anderson made the statement on the day that Eurovision Winner Conchita Wurst performed to a crowd in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.
Speaking from Brussels Anderson stated:
"I wish to voice my support for the statements made by Conchita Wurst in front of parliament today for an end to LGBT discrimination. We must challenge homophobia in society but also in government.
"While attitudes are changing for the better, there still exists an unacceptable level of homophobia in some quarters of society.
"I will be using my role on the European Committee on Civil Liberties and Justice to promote tolerance and respect for the LGBTI community"
