Sheehan welcomes fresh inquest into Pearse Jordan killing
Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has welcomed a fresh inquest into the killing of unarmed IRA volunteer Pearse Jordan by the RUC in 1992.
Speaking after the Court of Appeal upheld a decision to quash the findings of the original inquest, the West Belfast MLA said;
"I welcome this decision by the Court of Appeal. The judges clearly recognised that the original inquest was obviously flawed.
"This is yet another vindication of the long campaign for justice by Pearse's parents, Hugh and Teresa.
"A fresh inquest will hopefully reveal the truth about Pearse's killing.
“Sinn Féin will continue to support the rights of families like the Jordans to find out the truth regarding the death of their loved ones."
