Enda Kenny still not listening on water tax - Adams

1 November, 2014 - by Gerry Adams

Responding to remarks by the Taoiseach tonight, Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams said:

"Remarks by the Taoiseach this evening, make it very clear that he has not listened to the message sent by thousands and thousands of citizens who took to the streets across the state today.

"The fact of the matter is that struggling families and hard pressed citizens simply cannot pay the Government's water tax.

"Sinn Féin has shown the Government how to pay for water services. There are alternative and fairer ways to do this. There is no need to introduce domestic water charges.

"The Taoiseach and his government need to start listening to what the people are saying and stop the introduction of water charges."
