Proposed parade will harm Belfast City Centre Xmas trade
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has said that the proposed Unionist march through Belfast City centre on November 29th will only cause hardship to local traders.
Mr Maskey said,
“I am deeply disappointed that the Loyalist flag protesters have applied to march through Belfast City Centre on the 29th November to mark the second anniversary of the decision to fly the Union flag at Belfast City Hall on designated days only.
“Given the history of disruption and tension at these parades it is logical that many people will stay away from the city centre in what is traditionally one of the busiest weekends of the year.
“I am calling on the Unionist politicians to show leadership and have the application of this march retracted as it would be in the best interests of all the people of Belfast to have a prosperous and peaceful city centre in the lead up to Christmas.”
