Where’s our €4m for homeless services Minister Kelly?

7 November, 2014

Dublin Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson and chair of Dublin City Council's Housing SPC Cllr. Críona Ní Dhalaigh, is calling on the Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly to provide Dublin City Council (DCC) with information on when the €4m in extra funding necessary for the provision of homeless services is coming.

Speaking today ahead of DCC’s Budget Council meeting on Monday 10th of November Cllr Ní Dhalaigh said:

“In order to pass this Budget and to adequately fund homeless services in this city we need Minister Kelly to tell us if the department is making up the €4m funding deficit on homeless services.  We are trying to agree on the budget blindfolded and with one hand tied behind our back and this is totally unacceptable.”

“We are calling on Minister Kelly to release the funding figures required so we can complete our task. Dublin is in the midst of an unprecedented housing crisis and we need the Department of the Environment to sign off on its commitment to fund homeless services in the city.”
