Taoiseach must clarify matters relating to Minister Bruton's handling of "whistleblower" allegations –Mary Lou McDonald TD

8 November, 2014 - by Mary Lou McDonald TD

Speaking in response to a statement issued by Minister Richard Bruton in relation to allegations contained in the file sent by a “whistlebower” to the Public Accounts Committee, Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald TD said;

“Minister Bruton has today confirmed that he hasn’t forwarded, to An Garda Síochána, a detailed witness statement given to him in December, 2012. This presents an obvious delay of nearly two years.

“In his statement, he failed to clarify whether he and the Attorney General Máire Whelan received any other communications from the “whistleblower”.

“The Minister also failed to detail what action, if any, he took in response to these communications.

“I want to reiterate my call for An Taoiseach Enda Kenny to clarify these matters in respect of Minister Bruton and the Attorney General Máire Whelan.”
