Deputy Mayor voices support for weekend anti racism rally

27 October, 2004

Deputy Mayor of Belfast, Sinn Féin Councillor Joe O'Donnell has added his voice to those calling for people to attend this Saturday's rally outside the City Hall protesting against the rise of racism in the city.

Cllr. O'Donnell said:

" This Saturday's rally outside City Hall gives the people of Belfast an opportunity to tell the racists behind the recent wave of attacks on ethnic minorities within the city that their actions are wrong and that they must stop immediately.

" It will also provide an opportunity for the political parties in the City to unite in opposition to these attacks and the individuals and organisations carrying them out.

" Sinn Féin will be mobilising for the rally in west Belfast before making our way to the Art College for the march to the City Hall." ENDS
