Wells must apologise to Assembly - McKay

Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has called on health minister Jim Wells to apologise to the Assembly over his position on the proposed closure of Dalriada Hospital in Ballycastle.

The North Antrim MLA said;

"In the Assembly on Monday, Jim Wells gave an assurance to MLAs that he would consider the case put forward by the 'Save the Dal' group who are campaigning to keep Dalriada hospital open.

"At the same time officials from his department were moving in to start closing the hospital down.

"In my opinion Jim Wells deliberately misled the house. I regard that as being totally unacceptable.

"He should come to the floor of the Assembly and apologise for his remarks."
