Successful Senior Citizens Fundraiser held in Mountview- Councillor Natalie Treacy
Sinn Féin Castleknock Councillor Natalie Treacy was delighted with the support shown once again for the Mountview Senior Citizens fundraiser in Salmons bar in Mountview on the 28th of November.
Speaking about the event Cllr Treacy said:
“This is our second year to run this event. Last year we raised €1000 and to say I am proud to be a part of my community is an under-statement. The money raised last year was used to fund a group outing to the Tivoli Theatre to see the Pantomime.
It's areas such as Mountview, Whitechapel, Whitestown and Sheepmoor in my constituency that have been hit the hardest by the austerity budgets in the past and yet it's these people that are the first to put their hands in their pockets to help our Senior Citizens when given the chance.
This is why I got into local politics, for events like this. It is so important to help our elderly who are the pillars of our society and have worked hard all their lives in particular Bridie O'Neil who runs the Senior Citizen’s group and has been involved in our community for over 35 years.
I am delighted that I was once again able to organise this event but it would not be a success without the whole of the community pulling together, so a huge thank you to everyone who supported it”.
