Ferris calls on Coveney to reveal plans for €27 million EU reimbursement
Sinn Féin agricultural spokesman, Martin Ferris TD, has called on Minister Simon Coveney to reveal how he intends to spend the €27 million EU reimbursement to Irish agriculture to be carried over to next year.
Deputy Ferris said:
“The year 2014 has been a very hard one for many sectors of Irish farming. The storms in the early part of the year hit coastal areas badly.
“There were many small farmers who lost a large portion of their SFP due to land eligibility issues and there were others who suffered deeply the cut to Farm Assist.”
“I am asking the Minister to reveal how he intends to spend this €27 million, which although a relatively small amount, could go some way to relieving the hardship of some of the most vulnerable farmers.”
