Cllr Mc Hugh also spoke with one of Philip’s trophy winners Evan Metcalfe Light, the flyweight champion with three national titles under his belt and with the new facilities opening nothing will stop this club.

Cllr McHugh said:

“The new facilities are a welcome addition to the area and the council is to be complimented on the improvements to Pearse Park.”

Cllr McHugh added:

“A playground and an outdoor gym would complete the park, and I will be campaigning hard to bring this about. I have already entered motions to the Council, and presented this to the Council, including a signed petition by over 700 residents for a playground. Hopefully this will be achieved in the next 18 months.”
