McAleer welcomes progress on Omagh cycling master plan

9 December, 2014 - by Declan McAleer

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has welcomed progress on the creation of a cycling master plan for the Omagh area.

Speaking after meeting with the head of DRD's cycling unit in Omagh recently, the West Tyrone MLA said;

"I invited Andrew Grieve, the head of DRD's cycling unit to Omagh and he met with representatives of Omagh District Council, DRD Western Division and members of Omagh Cycling Initiative.

"Following the meeting we took part in a cycling tour of Omagh to see the route of the proposed cycling master plan at first hand.

"Cycling offers major social, health and economic benefits for our society.

"Omagh has an already well-established cycling network and I believe that with a collective focus we can bridge the gaps in that network and create a first-class cycling facility for everyone."
