Ferris calls for support for anti-water charges protest tomorrow
Sinn Féin TD for Kerry North, Martin Ferris, has called for people to come out tomorrow and protest in Dublin against water charges.
Speaking from Leinster House today, he said he was expecting a big contingent from Kerry as so many people had told him they would be travelling tomorrow.
Deputy Ferris said:
“Today here in Leinster House we had people from the Detroit Water Brigade warning the Irish to stop this process of imposing water charges now. They told us that in Detroit, once water was made a commodity to be paid for, it was the thin end of the wedge that has led to thousands of people having their water cut off.
“The Irish people do not want to pay twice for their water. They want the government to scrap the water charges. Tomorrow’s demonstration will show them how much people have rejected water charges.
“I call on people to come out and support the protest tomorrow.”
