Casement Park redevelopment must go ahead – Paul Maskey

15 December, 2014 - by Paul Maskey

West Belfast MP Paul Maskey said the opportunity for the multi-million pound redevelopment of Casement Park must not be lost and urged all parties involved to ensure a resolution is found.

The Sinn Féin MP said:

“The opportunity for this massive investment in west Belfast must not be lost.

“Jobs and the spin-off from the new stadium would be a huge boost to the  local economy.

"I am disappointed that the environment minister's handling of this landmark project has been so wide of the mark.

“West Belfast has suffered from years of neglect and under-investment and the potential of a multi-million pound state-of the art GAA stadium would be a great boost to the local economy and beyond.

“I would urge all parties involved to do all that they can to reach a resolution so that this project can go ahead.

“The community of West Belfast and Gaels throughout the city and Ulster want to see the new stadium become a reality.

“I along with the rest of my party will continue to work to making this a reality.”
