Sinn Féin hold weekly anti water charge protest in Clondalkin
Sinn Féin activists from Clondalkin and Lucan have started a weekly anti water charge protest at the Clondalkin Civic Offices. The first protest took place on Saturday 11 January and will continue every Saturday at the same venue from 12 to 1pm.
Speaking after the protest Clondalkin Council Jonathan Graham said:
‘The purpose of the protest is to keep the issue of water charges on the agenda. The Government is hoping that the mass movement against this unjust charge will have lost momentum. We want to remind them that people are just as opposed to his charge today as they were throughout 2014.
Speaking after the protest Clondalkin Councillor Eoin Ó Broin said:
‘The Right2Water campaign are planning further mass action for January 31st. Sinn Féin will be supporting this mobilisation. But in the meantime we want to keep a presence on the streets and we are encouraging all those who are opposed to these charges to join us every Saturday for an hour from 12 to 1 at the Clondalkin Civic Offices.’
