Government is on its last legs - Gerry Adams TD

13 January, 2015 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams has said that the Fine Gael and Labour Party coalition is on its last legs and that his party is preparing for Government.

Deputy Adams was speaking in Dublin at Sinn Féin’s think-in ahead of the return of the Dáil tomorrow.

Mr Adams said;

“One of the main priorities of this meeting of our Oireachtas team is about Sinn Féin preparing for Government.

“As the lead party in opposition we will continue to hold the government to account but we will also be focused on Sinn Féin gaining a mandate to be in Government.

“This Fine Gael/Labour Party Government is on its last legs.

"It has brought unfairness and inequality. It has broken almost every promise it made. It has reneged on nearly every point of its ‘Five Point Plan’.

“Whether the Government lasts until 2016 or not is academic. The people have given it notice to quit.

“Sinn Féin is seeking a mandate for government so that we can deliver on core Republican principles and to build a fair recovery.”
