19 Eco friendly homes become available in Ballymun – Cllr Reilly
Ballymun Sinn Féin Councillor Noeleen Reilly has welcomed the announcement that 19 Eco friendly homes are to be become available in Ballymun in April of this year.
‘This development project has a long history in Ballymun. Clúid Housing Association took over the development from Emerald housing in 2011 after the company went into liquidation. Some of the units could not be saved and had to be deconstructed. The original plan consisted of 37 social, affordable and wheelchair dedicated units relying almost exclusively on natural and low embodied energy materials to achieve this. Now we have 19 units a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bed homes.’
She further added,
‘This is very positive for some people on the waiting lists in Ballymun. It has been quite a while since so many units became available at once in the area. These homes will come on stream in the next couple of months and the council are currently setting up interviews with perspective tenants. With the social housing waiting list bursting in Ballymun, I look forward to seeing residents moving into their new homes in the near future and I hope this is the first of many ECO friendly housing developments in the area’.
