Gerry Adams TD congratulates Irish Academy Award nominees

Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD has congratulated those behind Irish nominations for the 87th Academy Awards.

Gerry Adams TD said:

"I want to pay tribute to Kilkenny's Cartoon Saloon on the nomination of animated feature film Song of the Sea for the 87th Academy Awards.

"This nomination underlines the world class talent of Irish animation and the important role this thriving industry now plays in our country.

"It is of vital important that the Government supports the arts, including film and animation in Ireland. However, this government's record on the arts has been very poor.

"I wish to pay tribute everyone involved in 'Boogaloo and Graham' which was nominated in the Best Live Action Short category.

"These are prestigious nominations and it is fantastic to see Irish talent honoured in this way."
