Sinn Féin slam those behind Blacks Road hate crime

17 January, 2015

Sinn Féin West Belfast Councillor Matt Garrett has slammed those responsible for a hate crime carried out on the Blacks Road last night.

Speaking today Cllr Garrett said:

“This was a despicable and cowardly attack which I condemn outright. Those responsible should hang their heads in shame.

“This attack is in no way reflective of the great people who live along Blacks Road and surrounding communities. I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people from this area are totally disgusted at this attack as I am.

“I would challenge those responsible to come out from under their stone and explain their rationale for their actions.

“Somehow I don't think the cowards will. Somehow I think they'd prefer to crawl back into the darkness, where they are clearly blinded by hatred and bigotry.

“I would appeal to anyone with even the smallest bit information to contact the PSNI. These people need to face the full weight of the law to send out a clear message that hate crime is completely unacceptable in our society.”
