Sinn Féin motion on Irish language receives unanimous support at Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Council meeting

19 January, 2015

A Sinn Féin motion calling on the Irish Government to formally ask the Council of Ministers to lift the derogation that has been in place on the Irish Language for the past 10 years has been unanimously passed at today’s council meeting in Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown.

The motion noted that the Irish language got full Official and Working Language status back in 2007 but there has been a derogation in place since then.
