Extra money for DARD move highlights commitment to Ballykelly
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has welcomed the announcement in the budget yesterday of £1m in order to help transfer the DARD headquarters to Ballykelly.
Mr Ó hOisín said,
“The announcement by Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill that she has secured an extra £1m in order to complete the decentralisation of the DARD headquarters to Ballykelly has to be welcomed.
“This money shows the commitment by the Minister to develop the Ballykelly site and open up the North West to host more governmental jobs.
“The envisaged 600 plus workers who will be based in Ballykelly will add to the local economy and help develop this area.
“Sinn Féin is now the only party who have stood firm in making Ballykelly a key site in decentralising jobs from the greater Belfast area and will continue to champion the decentralisation of department jobs to areas right across the North.”
