BOSE announcement devastating news for County Monaghan – Ó Caoláin
The announcement this afternoon by the BOSE Corporation of their decision to close their Carrickmacross, County Monaghan manufacturing plant as and from April with the loss of 140 jobs is “devastating news for the workforce, their families and for the town of Carrickmacross and the economy of South Monaghan” Cavan/Monaghan Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has said.
Deputy Ó Caoláin stated;
“The announcement this afternoon that all 140 jobs would be lost at the BOSE plant in Carrickmacross is devastating news for the workforce, their families and for the town of Carrickmacross and the economy of South Monaghan.
“I have this evening written directly to the Minister for Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation Richard Bruton TD requesting his immediate contact with BOSE management to explore the prospect of having this decision reversed. I have urged Minister Bruton to have the IDA fully involved in every effort to save the plant and these crucial jobs.
“If a reversal of the decision is not in prospect then no effort must be spared by Government and by the State Agencies to secure the earliest possible interest in the plant and its highly skilled workforce by a new company and management. The loss of these 140 jobs in Carrickmacross is incontemplatable.”
