Kathleen Funchion welcomes Bobby Aylward to Carlow/Kilkenny by-election contest
Sinn Féin's Cllr Kathleen Funchion has welcomed Bobby Aylward as Fianna Fáil nominee to the upcoming Carlow/Kilkenny by-election. Cllr Funchion has said that this move will highlight how closely Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are ideologically aligned.
Cllr. Funchion said:
“I welcome Bobby Aylward’s nomination. Now voters in Carlow/Kilkenny are presented with a choice between the party that ruined the country or the party that have kept austerity and all the hardship that has brought to working people.
“The past four years of cruel economic slash-and-burn have been a direct result of policies from a government that included Mr Aylward. Now is a time for the voters of Carlow/Kilkenny to break with the past and move away from the parties that have failed the people.”
“The people of Ireland want real change. They cannot bear anymore hardship under austerity and want to end the unfair Household Tax and Water Charges. Sinn Féin will put our vision of a united, fair, prosperous and progressive Ireland to the people north and south. It is on that basis that we hope to win support from the people of Ireland and lead a government of real change.”
