McElduff to host public meeting on rural broadband
Sinn Féin MLA Barry McElduff will host a public information meeting on rural broadband and mobile phone coverage in Eskra on Thursday evening.
The West Tyrone MLA said;
"Access to reliable broadband in rural areas is an essential basic service but unfortunately not all areas can avail of it.
"Mobile phone coverage is also a major concern for people living in rural communities.
"Not only is access to good quality broadband essential for rural businesses to grow and develop, it is also invaluable in everyday life to help tackle rural isolation.
"It is also becoming increasingly necessary for those involved in the agriculture sector to have access to broadband.
“The recent record speed of Single Farm Payments was due to the high number of applications received online.
"With this in mind I have organised a public information meeting on rural broadband and mobile phone coverage in the Eskra Community Centre on Thursday, February 5 at 7.30pm.
"The meeting will be addressed by representatives of the telecommunications sector, Rural Community Network and Eskra Community Association."
