Pat Doherty to travel to London

9 November, 2004

Sinn Féin Vice President Pat Doherty MP will travel to London this afternoon for a series of political engagements in Westminster.

Mr Doherty will meet with the Liberal Democrat spokesperson Lembit Opik and David Lidington of the Conservatives. He will also hold a general briefing for MPs of all parties and meet with Embassy representatives.

Speaking today before his departure Mr Doherty said:

" Sinn Féin regularly travel to London to update and brief MPs, opinion makers and Embassy representatives on the current state of play within the peace process. Tomorrow's engagements are part of that effort.

" At a time when it is becoming clear that the DUP are unwilling to share power it is particularly important that the message that the two governments now need to drive forward the process of change is heard clearly in London."
