Maskey raises concerns over RVH accident and emergency department
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has raised concerns about the pressures on the accident and emergency department at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
The West Belfast MP said;
"Staff and patients using the accident and emergency department at the Royal Victoria Hospital have contacted me in recent days warning of pressures in the system.
"It has now reached the stage that patients are being bussed to the Mater hospital in an attempt to relieve the pressure.
"This is not an ideal situation for patients and further highlights the intense pressure our accident and emergency departments are under.
"I would like to commend the staff at the accident and emergency department for their hard work and dedication to the care of their patients throughout all of this.
"It is also an indication of the wider problems within the health service as a result of the health minister's ongoing mismanagement of his budget.
"I will be seeking a meeting with management at the RVH to discuss my concerns about the pressures on the A&E department.”
