Adams expresses concern at arrests
Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD has expressed concern at the arrest of four anti-Water Charges activists in Dublin, including Paul Murphy TD and two Councillors.
Gerry Adams said:
"I would question the necessity of arresting these activists, including two local Councillors and a TD in morning raids such as we have seen.
"If Gardaí needed to speak to any of these people, they could have sought to do this by appointment.
"Sinn Féin has been very clear in relation to the necessity of all anti-Water Charge protests being peaceful and I have criticised the actions of a minority who have departed from that approach.
"However the timing and nature of these arrests appears overtly political and a waste of precious Garda resources."
