Resolution of costs issue surrounding Father Scully House welcome- Cllr Janice Boylan
Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor Janice Boylan has welcomed the announcement of a resolution on issue of costs between CHAS voluntary housing organisation, Dublin City Council and the Department of the Environment on Fr Scully House.
Speaking this afternoon Cllr Boylan said:
“While I welcome that the issue surrounding operating costs for Fr. Scully House has been resolved, we must now take the time to reflect on how long it took to find a resolution and the inconvenience and stress caused to local constituents.
In one particular circumstance we encountered a person who was facing eviction because they were all set to move in and many cases involved older and very vulnerable citizens.
With the cost issue resolved, refurbishment costs will be covered by the state and the standard rent will be €400 per month, tenants have moved in and there is a plan in place to get the rest of the potential tenants moved in ASAP.
We must now use this experience to learn and not let constituents in other areas fall into a similar uncertain situation. Fr. Scully House is a state of the art building and we should use this model to base further housing projects on”.
