Pat Doherty MP to attend Pat Finucane Westminster event
Sinn Féin MP Pat Doherty will attend a commemoration at Westminster in memory of murdered solicitor Pat Finucane tomorrow night.
Mr Doherty said,
“I will be attending a commemoration in Westminster in memory of Pat Finucane who was murdered 26 years ago by a Unionist death squad in collusion with the British state.
“In 2001 at the Weston Park agreement British and Irish governments agreed an inquiry into the murder of Pat Finucane yet the British government has refused to implement the Weston Park agreement with the tacit support of the Irish Government.
“It is therefore apt that the campaign for justice for Pat Finucane is brought to the very place where the policy of collusion was instigated and that the Pat Finucane story is told.
“I commend Watch (UK) for organising the event and the family for their dignity and courage in pursuing truth and justice for Pat Finucane.”
