Tribute to Minister as Líofa passes 10,000 members
Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley has said that Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín needs to be congratulated as the number of people, who have signed up to the Líofa campaign, passes the 10,000 mark.
Ms. McCorley said,
‘The DCAL Minister Carál Ní Chuilín initiated the Líofa campaign at the beginning of her term to encourage people to improve their use and understanding of the language.
“Modest targets were set so it is unbelievable that over 10,000 people have now signed up to the project and are learning, using and enjoying the language.
“What is very satisfying is that the people who have signed up come from every walk of life and across all political and religious divides.
“This highlights the point that the language threatens no one and reinforces the need for an Acht na Gaeilge to protect the rights of the Irish language community.
“I would encourage all learners to visit the Liofa site, sign up and use the tools available on the site to improve their language skills.”
