Maskey calls for support for petition of concern
Commenting on the revelation that the DUP had acted in bad faith on protections for the most vulnerable contained in the Stormont House Agreement, Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey said:
"We negotiated a welfare package during the Stormont House negotiations to protect the most vulnerable in society.
"This includes children with disabilities, adults with severe disabilities, the long-term sick and children in large families.
"The DUP are now reneging on these commitments.
"There is an opportunity to block the passage of the Welfare Bill with a petition of concern.
"I am calling on other members of the Assembly including members of the SDLP to add their signatures to that petition of concern.
"They can stop this attack on the most vulnerable in our society."
