Adams welcomes release of Water Charge protesters
Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD has welcomed the release from jail today of four anti-Water Charge protesters.
Gerry Adams said:
"I welcome today's release from prison of four anti-Water Charge protesters.
"These citizens should never have been in prison at all.
"It is the corrupt bankers and politicians who caused the economic crisis who should be jailed.
"Water Charges are an unfair and unjust austerity tax. They have been rejected by citizens and that has been evident in huge mobilisations in recent months.
"Fine Gael and Labour have failed to listen to people on this issue. Citizens want these charges scrapped not capped.
"Water Charges can be defeated. The campaign will continue. All protests need to be peaceful, respectful and family-friendly."
