MP expresses concern at any further delay in new critical care building at RVH
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has expressed his concerns at reports that there could be a further delay in the opening of the new £150m critical care building at the RVH.
The West Belfast MP said:
“Clearly it is unacceptable if there is yet again a further delay in the opening of this state of the art health facility.
“I would call on all those involved including the Health Department, the Belfast Health Trust, the contractors and the engineers to work together to make sure there are no further delays and that the building is fit to deliver the top rate care that people deserve.
“All those involved must ensure that upon completion the building is capable of delivering the care that it was planned to deliver.
“It is crucial that the new building is for purpose and is of the highest standard. Problems need to be dealt with by all involved to ensure this and that the future functioning of the building is not plagued by any problems that should be dealt with now.
“Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley will be submitting an urgent oral question to the Health Minister to seek clarity on the issue.”
