Henry Shefflin is a hero to the people of Kilkenny - Funchion
Sinn Féin Cllr. Kathleen Funchion has wished Henry Shefflin all the very best following the announcement of his retirement from inter county hurling today.
Councillor Funchion said:
“Henry Shefflin is hero to the people of Kilkenny. He is a role model of undeniable stature for thousands of young hurlers throughout Ireland.”
“Henry is assured of his place in sporting history for everything that he has achieved in the game.
“His skill and leadership on the pitch inspired a number of great Kilkenny Hurling teams to All-Ireland victories.”
“Today's announcement will be a source of sadness to many but it is also time to celebrate an inter-county hurling career characterised by heroism and sheer brilliance.”
